Spacelord Mo Fo's Episode #1 DriveThruComics Launch Digital Shindig

Howdy All,
There's been a lot happening since our last update, but the biggest news is that we're launching Episode #1 of the Mo Fo on DriveThruComics and we're inviting you to join us in doing our part as we set the Mo Fo loose on the digital comic world! 

As of 12.05am, Thursday, 24th January, almost a year to the day since the first panels went live on the Mo Fo website, the Complete, Uncensored and Full 1920 x 1080 HD Episode # 1 will be live and available to buy and download from DriveThruComics.com

The making of 'A momentary bout of questionably-inspired creativity'

Howdy all,
The silly season is almost upon us (that's Xmas for the non-understanding folks (that's Christmas for the even more non-understanding folks)), and Dave and I have been busy doing many non-Mo Fo related things. Yes. We do have lives outside of the Mo Fo. That said, we've been doing our bit to keep the Mo Fo buzz alive, and it seems that one such momentary bout of questionably-inspired creativity turned out to be a good idea. And what was this 'good idea'? It was this photo -

Whatcha doing? Oh, just doodling a plan for the Mo Fo...

And it was the winner of Whatcha Podcast's, Be An All Star Competition, with a swag of prizes provided by All Star Comics in Melbourne.

The basics of the challenge is to send a picture of yourself to the podcast showing- 'Whatcha doing? Whatcha reading" Whatcha watching? etc".

It all started when I read Whatcha Podcast's call on Facebook for last-day, creative entries into the competition... and so, I got creative. The theme for my entry? Well, to paraphrase a couple of well known lab mice, "Whatcha doing tonight, Pat?" - "Same thing I do every night... plotting the Mo Fo's path to world domination!"
My template for the winning pic, was a time previously where I had used a wall in my former office to break down the characters and plot for a TV pilot I was working on.

Here's one I prepared earlier...

Now, if you're going to plan world domination, you need to think big. I mean, REALLY BIG! And, my first thought was to create a 'Plan' so big, I would need a Drive-In screen as the drawing board. Unfortunately, I didn't have a Drive-In screen handy, and my photoshop skills aren't that good  - so I had to settle for my office wall again.

I still needed a suitably 'global domination' looking plan... that I could create in a couple of hours. Can you say, "Hello Google Image Search?"
Ten minutes later, and I had a starting point...

I know, it's kinda small... but, you have to start somewhere...

Two hours later and the plan was ready...

Strangely enough... in having to fake the global domination plan, I had to come up with the plan for global domination. Mmm... I can't wait to ride the Bad Kitty Rollercoaster at the MoFoVerse Theme Park. 

And then, after a bit of overlaying, and cutting, and multiplying, and skewing perspective, and marker pen texture filtering - well, it's 2am, and you get this... again...

Whatcha Doin' at 2am while the city slumbers and the crickets chirp? Same thing I do every night... plotting the Mo Fo's path to world domination! Mwahhahahaha!!! *sidenote ...may have also consumed too much coffee.

Not a bad bit of Mo Fo promotion if I don't say so myself.

On a personal note, thanks guys for validating the idea :)...  'cause it's not so strange to question one's sanity when it's 1.45am and you find yourself standing on a foot stool that is precariously perched on two wheeled cabinets while staring at the ceiling as you wait for a camera timer to count down...
And, I'd also like to thank Troy and Mitch at All Star Comics in Melbourne for their generous and awesome prizes! I don't get over to Melbourne as often as I'd like, but Dave and I did make the journey for Armageddon Expo in 2011 to promote the Mo Fo, and we stopped by the shop and met Mitch and Troy.

Episode 1 Collector's CD - Now Available

Howdy All,
After the thrill of Supanova, we've been busy getting the next stage of the Mo Fo ready - yes, the mighty Mo Fo marketing campaign has begun!

Episode 1 is of course still available for FREE, online and for download from the Mo Fo website in Standard Definition (1024 x 576) - with no questions asked. EPISODE 1

We hope you like it, and you keep coming back to read future Episodes as they are released. That said, if you REALLY liked it, and you'd like to experience the Mo Fo in the full Uncensored and High Definition (1920 x 1080) magnificence it was intended for, then that version is now available too - the catch is, we hope you'll support this version with a few real $$s.

We're in the process of setting up a Digital Download copy which will be available for purchase from one of the major online comic stores and will be posting the details once everything is in place. Until then, for those who still enjoy owning a physical collectible copy of their comics, then we have the Episode 1 Collector's CD, which was launched at Supanova Adelaide.

Copies are now available to order from our website, or, if you'd like to support your local bricks and mortar comic store, then we're working on getting copies out to them too. As far as we're concerned, developing a Digital Comic for the digital medium, doesn't mean abandoning the comic store world we came from and love. The Episode 1 Collectible CD is our attempt to ensure that our Digital Comic (and hopefully others will follow suit), have a commercially feasible place in the real world, and is not simply limited to the realm of the digital download.
For the moment, the three stores stocking the Mo Fo are limited to the geographic region of Earth known as Adelaide.

Supanova Raffle Draw - and the Winner is...

Howdy All,
Not satisfied with just launching the complete Episode 1 of the Mo Fo at Supanova Adelaide, we also ran a raffle for an original piece of Dave's Mo Fo art, produced at the Expo for any and all to see. What started as a blank canvas on the Saturday morning was transformed into an amazingly cool, hand-painted, character piece of Honey Pott by Sunday's end.

The draw was held at approximately 5.00pm, with the tickets collected and thoroughly mixed by resident ticket mixer, Pat.

Then, with the help of Adelaide's own Cosplay Legend, Steve Scholz, rocking a very convincing Harvey Dent/Two-Face...

The winning ticket was selected.

After calls were made, and the drop was set, Dave went to meet the winner at one of Adelaide's most notorious space pirate hangouts... the Adelaide Comic Centre...superheroes have also been known to frequent this den of heroes and villainy.

This Mo Fo just got real! ... again...

The Mo Fo buzz is building!

Howdy All,
We're only 3 days away from Part 16 of the Mo Fo being unleashed on the world... and 4 days until we launch the completed, uncensored, and fully HD Episode 1 of the Mo Fo at Supanova Adelaide, and the buzz is really starting to rumble.

Rumble No. 1 

We sat down with Nathan Tan of the awesome I Got Superpowers Comics/Anime/Cosplay Blog last weekend (at the excellent ETC Cafe) for a bit of a chat, and to discuss some secret Mo Fo business that shall remain super-secret for now (but big things are certainly stirring in our giant pot of ideas). He's just posted a huge write-up on the Mo Fo that's got us feeling pretty damn chuffed - click the pic to read all about it!

Rumble No. 2

There are a couple of moments in this creativity business when you really feel like what you've been pouring your blood, sweat and tears into for so long feels like it's been worth it - and Dave and I have just had such a moment. In this case, it's a fellow artist paying us the ultimate honor by using our work as an inspiration for his own. Melbourne-based writer/artist Thomas Tung of 'The Cosplayer' web comic strip, made our week in the biggest way by posting an awesome homage to the Mo Fo - and if you're familiar with the opening sequence of the Mo Fo, you'll understand why. He gets it! He really does! Click the pic to see the strip in all of its glory!

Seen it? Good! Now, do yourself a favor and check out the rest of 'The Cosplayer'. It's one of the smartest written, character-driven, geek comedy web-comics I've read.
That's all the rumblings we have time for today, but we'll have more posts to come in the build up to Supanova, until then... we'd better get back to working on the Mo Fo... can't leave it half done now can we?!

Supanova Adelaide Update

Howdy All,
We're a week away from Supanova Adelaide and the final touches are being made to Part 16 of the Mo Fo. We'll be launching the complete Episode 1 on the Mo Fo website on Friday, 16th November -- then, for the first time ever, we'll have the full, uncensored, High-Def, digital version of the Mo Fo available for sale at Supanova. You can find us in Artists Alley - Table Y... see map for directions...

As well as the completed Episode 1 we'll have 100 Limited Signed Collector's Panel Print Sets available (Three Prints per Set). Each Print features a signature art panel from Episode 1 on the A side, with the relevant excerpt of the script printed on the B side.

We'll have more announcements to make in the days ahead, for now though, it's back to finishing Pt 16.
